Ben Harris, CCIM, a Radford, Virginia native, is an agent with Poe & Cronk Real Estate Group where he specializes in commercial sales and leasing. Before joining the firm Ben received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Radford University in 1980 and subsequently received his MBA from Wake Forest in 1999.
Ben's professional experience includes 30 years as a proprietor and manager of a family owned industrial and commercial construction company. He has developed and invested in both non-climate and climate controlled storage facilities; commercial and medical office buildings; and university student housing. In addition, he has leased and managed his own properties. In 1998, he sold his family owned construction company and re-located to North Carolina. There, he began working for Samet Corporation, a $90 million dollar full-service construction company and real property development company. At Samet, Harris created and managed the Special Products Division. He and his team provided professional contracting services for clients with specialized construction requirements, such as renovations, improvements and additions to existing buildings and multi-location commercial and industrial construction build-outs. Two years later Ben was presented an opportunity to reacquire the family owned business. Harris's extensive experience in developing raw land and building commercial buildings fostered the natural transition to commercial real estate.
After he obtained his Virginia Real Estate license, Harris immediately sought and successfully completed the requirements to become a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Ben's professional affiliations include the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS®, the Virginia Association of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS. Harris is an active member of the New River Valley Community, as well. He is the Chair of Radford University Advisory Council to the College of Business and Economics, a Member of the Montgomery County and the Radford Chamber of Commerce, New River Valley Home Builders Association, Virginia Tech Hokie Club, and a Sun Trust Advisory Board Member in the New River Valley.
