Richard M. Wellford brings 20 years of commercial real estate experience to Poe & Cronk. He has worked actively in 11 states as a broker, consultant, asset manager, property manager, and investor. He specializes in healthcare properties and corporate real estate services. For the more modest investor, Richard offers expertise in both land development and multi-family rehab projects.
Mr. Wellford is the former Associate Vice President and East Regional Manager of Healthcare Realty Services (HR:NYSE) where he was responsible for the management of over 3.4 million square feet of medical and healthcare-related properties. He continues to provide valuable advisory services to hospitals and physician partnerships throughout the eastern United States. He volunteers as a board member for the Health Planning Agency of Southwest Virginia - HPSWV.
Prior to 1997, Mr. Wellford was associated with Wilmette Real Estate, Inc. where he was involved in the rehabilitation and restoration of over $40 million of residential and commercial property in the City of Chicago and its suburbs. Today, Mr. Wellford continues to be involved in the community as a Curriculum Advisor for Leadership Roanoke Valley, the leadership training program of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Wellford holds degrees from Virginia Tech and Northwestern University. He holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the CCIM Institute, and the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. He also has completed additional coursework towards his designation as Master of Corporate Real Estate.
