Poe & Cronk Announces the Sale of a 37,000 SF Building in Downtown Roanoke

ROANOKE, VA - September 1, 2009 - Poe & Cronk Real Estate Group today announced the sale of 16 Church Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia.
John Garland, president of Spectrum Design along with three partners who also work for the architecture and engineering firm, paid $425,000 for the 37,000SF building. According to Darrell Morris, "The Downtown Sports Club and Oasis Chiropractic currently occupy the building". This structure was built in 1951 and S&W Cafeteria was its first tenant which closed in the 1980's.
Garland and his partners want to create a food and retail hub, named the Stay Well Marketplace, to cater to downtown's condo and apartment dwellers. At this moment there is not a large grocery store or pharmacy in downtown Roanoke. Garland envisions a small grocery and convenience store selling produce and upscale food on the first floor. Several food vendors would be added as well to sell healthy fare, such as soups and salads. There would also be a pharmacy and other offices, such as a dentist and a massage therapist on this floor. An upscale exercise facility would fill the structure's second floor, while the third floor would be for offices with an entrance from the Luck Avenue side.
The time table for interior and exterior work has not been set. They would like to preserve the historic aspects of this building.
